🚗🏆 Engines Roared and Spirits Soared at the 31st Annual TST BOCES Car Show! 🏆🚗 On Sunday, car enthusiasts gathered for the spectacular 31st annual Car Show hosted by TST BOCES Career and Tech Center. With over 150 incredible entries, from cars and motorcycles to trucks, the event was a resounding success! 🎉 Highlights of the Day: 🏆 Best In Show: Pogo Paolangoli's stunning 1938 Ford Pickup Truck stole the spotlight and took home the top trophy! 🏆 Best Engine: Awarded to Joe Tagliavento for his 1923 Ford T-Bucket. 🏆 Best Paint: Rich Placek took home this award for his eye-catching 1968 Chevy Camero. 🏆 Ladies Choice: Congratulations to our very own Amy Jones for winning with her beautifully maintained 1970 Pontiac Tempest! History made! Our very first P-TECH class graduates from Tompkins Cortland Community College! 🎓🎉 Last night TC3 hosted it's Class of 2024 Commencement and a very special group of graduates walked across the stage - our inaugural P-TECH class! 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓 Six years ago, we launched TST PTECH Academy, welcoming a bright-eyed group of 9th graders to a unique learning experience. With a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), these students spent their high school years (9th-12th grade) with us, earning college credits from TC3 and getting hands-on with cutting-edge technology. 🔭👨‍🔬 The best part? Today, TST Regional School Success had the honor of hosting the NYS Seal of Biliteracy Presentation Day, celebrating the linguistic talents of students from Dryden Central School District, Lansing Central School District, and Trumansburg Central School District! 📚🌟 The NYS Seal of Biliteracy honors students' proficiency in English and one or more world languages. Today, these students showcased their Culminating Projects, presenting entirely in their chosen world language before a panel of proficient judges. Not only did they deliver their presentations, but they also fielded questions from the judges, and were scored on a rubric for demonstrating proficiency across the three modes of communication- Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational. 🎙️💬 We had students demonstrate their language skills in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Thai, and Khmer! 🇪🇸 🇫🇷 🇵🇹 🇹🇭 🇰🇭 If successful, these students will proudly receive the Seal of Biliteracy affixed to their diplomas and don the prestigious biliteracy medallion at graduation. Last Friday was a day of epic collaboration as our TST New Visions Engineering and TST PTECH programs joined forces at Cornell NanoScale Facility! 🚀🔬 Together, our students explored micro:bits, delved into nanotechnology—LED production, MEMs device fabrication, and cleanroom processes. Our Exceptional Ed students showcased their culinary talents in the "Great Smith-ish Bake Off" just before spring break, and oh, what a treat it was! 🌟 🍪🧁 From chocolate chip cookies to cinnamon roll muffins, the creativity was off the charts! 🏀🏆 It was an electrifying showdown at the 27th Annual March Madness Tournament last Friday! 🌟 Eight teams, each comprised of a dedicated staff member and two students, battled head-to-head in a thrilling knockout style tournament. The intensity came down to the final two teams, as Team Cucumbers, led by Will Ford, Heindrich Mesick, and Jaslene Casillas, faced off against the formidable Team Rutabagas, led by Sean McKean, Shawn Greenwood, and Elijah Smith.
