Benefits

  • Eliminates the need for DVD players in classrooms

  • Enables streaming access for districts blocking personal streaming sites

  • Extends the classroom with connectivity to any LMS (i.e. Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, etc.)

  • Streamlines access with single sign-on integration

The streaming platform is preloaded with a collection of 250 titles specifically curated for education based on the most frequently used films in K-12 classrooms across the country. In addition to this collection, teachers have access to search through thousands of films to identify additional movies to be added to your collection throughout the year. While our curated collections should be the majority of the films your school will use, we understand that teachers are creative and new films become available throughout the year.

How To Access Swank K-12 Streaming

Service Teacher Access

There are currently two ways that teachers can sign into our TST BOCES Swank K-12 Streaming portal:

  1. Sign in to our ClassLink interface and select the Swank K-12 Streaming icon on the Launchpad (aka My Apps page) OR

  2. Go directly to our Swank K-12 Streaming portal, click the "SAML Login" button, and then click the "Sign in with Google Button" on the ClassLink interface

Only teachers and other staff that have “Instructor” privileges in Swank will see the icon on their ClassLink launchpad.

Student Access

Students who sign into ClassLink will NOT see the Swank icon on their Launchpad (aka My Apps page). Instead, students have“Basic” privileges in Swank which allow them to play titles via watch links provided by their Instructors. Students have no access to the entire film library portal. This enables teachers to control access to the films students can see through Swank.

Students can only access individual films via “watch links” that teachers make available to them. This ensures student safety online and prevents younger students from viewing films that are inappropriate for their age/grade level. “Watch links” can be posted on any LMS including Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology and many more. They can also be sent directly to students via email, or they can be posted on a school web page. Student access requires a school email address (Google SSO is set up to work this way throughout the TST BOCES region). This eliminates concerns that people outside your school domain could have access to the films.
