They built connections, and met our amazing staff and students all while getting a sneak peek at the pathways that could shape their future! 🔧🍳💻🚗 💡 Missed out or still deciding? If you’re a 10th grader from a TST component district, it’s not too late to explore CTE! Work with your home school counselor to set up a Tech Tuesday visit starting January 21 and running through April 11. Tail-wagging success at Helping Hounds Dog Rescue! 🐾🐕 Animal Science juniors visited Helping Hounds in Syracuse yesterday, learning from experts Lisa, Vanessa, and Chivon about dog care, volunteer coordination, and behavior training. Chivon, Training & Behavior Specialist, led a hands-on lesson, teaching students techniques to reinforce calmness in dogs. Our students even got to practice with adoptable dogs, putting their skills to the test! At BARK, the Animal Science day kennel for TST staff dogs, students train dogs while mastering skills like physical exams, behavior assessments, and client communication. 🎁🐾 Yesterday, Animal Science seniors hit Walmart for a special mission: shopping for the annual NTHS Goodie Box Drive! 🎄💝 Each year, this drive helps support TST BOCES students and families during the holidays, and this year, Animal Science students decided to use funds from their fundraisers to give back. 💸❤️ Partnered up and armed with $50 budgets, students shopped for themed boxes—like movie night, baking essentials, stocking stuffers, and toiletries. 🐐 It was a baa-rilliant day in Animal Science! 🐐 Students got hands-on experience with baby goats just 3 and 5 days old, conducting pre-surgical exams, collecting health histories, and assisting the veterinarian by monitoring vitals during the goats’ sedation for castration and disbudding surgery. After successful procedures, our students provided post-operative care, ensuring the little ones were happy and healthy.
