🔥✨ Turning Dreary into Delightful: Mrs. Andersen's class has S'more fun! ✨🔥 On dreary days like today, Mrs. Andersen's class has just the cure to bring warmth and delight to your day! We were invited to their class last Friday, where we gathered around their homemade (and flameless) fire pit to share stories and taste a sweet treat! Every day, Mrs. Andersen's class comes together to share stories about the previous night, celebrate what’s going well, and discuss ways to uplift each other. Each week, they focus on a specific word, and last week's word was kindness—each student went around the circle and committed to an action of how to show kindness to others on that day. Then it was time for some marshmallow magic! Using the microwave for safety, they heated up their marshmallows and savored the chocolaty goodness of s'mores with friends. 🐄 🍼Calf Delivery & Career Dreams - how Animal Science Senior Ryan Rose spent her time at the The Great New York State Fair!🍼🐄 Ryan was one of only 9 students statewide selected by the NY Animal Agriculture Coalition, to shadow a Veterinarian at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center at the NYS Fair, after submitting a compelling essay and passing a competitive selection process for NYAAC's Aspiring Veterinarian Program. During her six hour internship, Ryan assisted Dr. Amber with wellness exams, checked calf positioning, and even assisted Dr. Amber in delivering two calves—one by natural birth and the other through a pull birth. The newborn calves, named Smokeshow (girl) and Wesley (boy), were an unforgettable part of Ryan's time at the Fair. From sketching to painting to final installation, our students worked hard on every detail to bring the targets to life. They even got to test their hard work by aiming at the new targets themselves after installation this morning! 🎯🍎 You can see the P-TECH targets on display and celebrate fall fun at Moore Family Farm in Groton, NY, open weekends from 10am-5pm. 🌊✨ Swimming through summer memories 🌊✨ 1️⃣ We made a splash with another swimming field trip to Tompkins Cortland Community College, followed by a delicious lunch in the Panther Dining Hall! 🏊‍♂️🍽️ 2️⃣ Inspired by the spirit of the Olympics, we hosted "Taste the Nations," where each class represented a different country by creating delicious dishes to share with everyone at Smith School! 🌍🍴 3️⃣ On a hot day at the end of Extended School Year, our Snack Shack crew cooled things down with Water Olympics—complete with a slip and slide, water cannons, and plenty of bubbles for some summer fun! 💦🎉 We cannot wait to welcome all of the smiling faces back to our campus in just a few days! 😊🎒 #BackToSchool #SummerFun #ConnectingMindsInspiringGrowth #BOCESProud

The Doug's Fish Fry To-Go trailer will be serving up sea food varieties including fish, shrimp, and scallops, (fries and coleslaw too) at TST BOCES from 11:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024! This will be an on-campus fundraiser with proceeds benefitting the TST BOCES Student Generosity Club, in the hopes of funding another mural to brighten the halls of the Smith School. Nothing excites Christine more than the real-world impact of Project Based Learning (PBL), where students tackle engaging, real-world challenges that foster creative problem-solving skills. She believes our teachers are the true trailblazers—brave visionaries shaping the future with their courage to innovate and inspire the next generation. In the P-TECH program at TST BOCES, students work in small teams on complex, often ambiguous problems, developing the critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation skills essential for success in today’s world.
