Students enter the P-TECH program as ninth graders and each will successfully earn their Regents Diploma, Associate’s Degree, and gain access to a quality work opportunity in either Advanced Manufacturing or Computer Science at the end of their time with us.

We collaborate with families, business, and community to create fully accessible, meaningful & relevant curriculum that is culturally responsive and sustaining.  We engage in ongoing curriculum development and teacher learning, in order to ensure a fully inclusive and culturally sustaining learning environment for every student.  We collaborate with business and community partners to design genuine work-based challenges that help students learn the workplace, professional, and life skills needed for success in their industries and their lives.

Student learning at P-TECH Academy is project-based and includes ongoing workplace learning experiences.  Student learning is evaluated using a portfolio-based authentic assessment approach.  Together, we use digital portfolios and narrative reporting to communicate what students have learned and are able to do, to reflect on student growth over time, and to set new learning goals.

A successful young person in TST P-TECH Academy is motivated to learn in new and exciting ways, and thrives in a non-traditional classroom setting. Are you creative, passionate about learning, and interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math? Do you want to make meaningful contributions to our local & global community? Our students have the desire to build strong skills in communications, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and time management. Students entering ninth grade are selected based on an application process.

Pathways

 student and teacher with networking equipmentAdvanced Manufacturing – Advanced Manufacturing is the integration of technology-based systems and processes in the creation of products. Students will learn the foundational STEM and problem-solving skills that will make them an in-demand, employable technician with knowledge in science, technology and math.
Career possibilities: industrial engineer, CNC machine operator, precision manufacturing

Computer Science – Students gain knowledge and practical competence in the Computer Science field allowing for a wide variety of career opportunities by educating them in the fundamental concepts, knowledge and practice in computer programming, database, web design, hardware, operating systems and networks.
Career possibilities: computer support specialist, network administrator, cyber security analyst, web developer
